As we stand at the threshold of entering into the next 365 days of our lives, we look ahead and prayerfully seek God for guidance in 2025. Guidance that enables good judgement. But also, the wisdom of God to keep us from the pitfalls of pride and arrogance, steering us toward growth and transformation to become more like Him.
“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.”
– Proverbs 9:10
Our relationship with the Lord is the very foundation from which wisdom and good judgement will grow. As a local church we cannot set sail into 2025 unless we have our feet firmly planted in the true fear of God. This means acknowledging His power, authority and holiness, while acknowledging our dependency on His mercy and grace to carry us into this year. The fear of God is not being afraid of Him, rather it is being terrified of the thought of being distant from Him.
Do we live our lives as if unto the audience of One? The One Who is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient. A deep knowledge of, and relationship with God inspire obedience, humility and a desire to align oneself with God’s will.
Ultimately, living to please God ensures that the choices we make are not just about success or happiness, but about living a life that reflects His love, holiness and truth.
“Those who fear the Lord are secure;
he will be a refuge for their children.
Fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain;
it offers escape from the snares of death.”
– Proverbs 14:26
May we choose to drink from the fountain of living water which sustains, refreshes and enables us to be true ambassadors for the Kingdom of God in 2025.
